A few years ago I had the chance to spend a bit of time in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Medecins Sans Frontieres. Thanks to problems on the client side, the project I was working on didn’t pan out, but I snapped a lot of photographs (the purpose of the trip) and from those I made a few comics.
In Rutshuru, in war-torn North Kivu province, I met a young lady named Denise, who had been hit by a stray bullet on her way to school. Beautiful girl, sunny personality, caught up in geopolitical tragedy. And I made a comic.
